About BobFrom the very beginning, Bob demonstrated a genuine interest in our enterprise and enthusiastically appreciated what we had built throughout the years. At the same time, he spoke frankly about the challenges that our irregular cash flow would present and the difficulty that potential buyers would have in understanding our uncommon business. It still amazes me how he remained steadfastly with us throughout all the trials of selling our business. Someone will no doubt think the following a worn out cliche, but it is true that he literally worked tirelessly to accomplish the goal of sale. He proclaimed at the beginning that he never gives up on a sale, and truly proved the veracity of that statement. We have the utmost respect for his competence and excellence in this specialized field of business brokerage. We find it difficult to imagine how Bob could have done more to facilitate a successful sale than the way he has already performed. In common with other business owners, we have experienced our share of highly disappointing business dealings and occasionally lamented the scarcity of outstanding individuals. It is our opinion that Bob represents a significant minority of businessmen and women that conscientiously pursue excellent service with honesty and integrity.
About LanceMr. Schmidt was highly recommended by our corporate attorney after the conclusion of a large and difficult sale with them. Acting on our attorney's referral, we met with Lance and got along well. We interviewed him to help us sell one of our operating divisions that no longer fit in with our long-term goals. Mr. Schmidt performed a detailed valuation of our company and afterwards created a marketing document for the sale. Next, he created a strategy to sell to an industry competitor to possibly achieve the best value. This required a trip to Texas. However, the president of the acquiring company couldn’t meet with us when we arrived as their own company went up for sale and he couldn’t discuss anything with us. Then Mr. Schmidt proposed to sell the company to Colorado State University as they were partners with our Company, so we flew to Colorado for a high-level meeting at the University. However, in the end, the University decided that the purchase didn’t fit with their overall mission. Consequently, Mr. Schmidt was ready to take the business to the global marketplace but there was one final possibility, that of an internal sale to an employee. I was doubtful at first because this individual lacked the necessary funds, but Mr. Schmidt assured me it was possible with an SBA loan. Sure enough, Mr. Schmidt got it through the offer, escrow, and SBA process to conclusion. It was a wild ride but an exciting one. Through that process I gained great trust with Mr. Schmidt’s highly creative suggestions and in his competence and abilities as an M&A Intermediary. I highly recommend him to any seller in the M&A or Business Brokerage world.
About LynnI thought my business was not worth anything. But Lynn gave me some good advice to improve our business and two years later, we sold our business and retirement came earlier thanks to her selling process!”
About BobSharon and I want to thank you for your help and expertise, and for providing a pleasant and stress-free experience while helping us to sell our business. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. If we decide to purchase another business in the future, we won't hesitate to contact you.
About LanceWe highly recommend Lance Schmidt as a business broker. Lance spearheaded the selling of our commercial landscaping company this year. He was referred to us by a highly reputable commercial real estate broker in Orange County. Lance's complete knowledge of the business sales market and the business sales evaluation process were priceless to us. Lance is very well received in his field, from escrow officers, attorneys, bankers, etc., and his professionalism is praised by all. We cannot imagine going through the unknown and, frankly, risky aspects of business sales and purchases without the expert guidance Lance Schmidt provided to us. Lance also provides a great deal of simple guidance (both visual and verbal) to alleviate most of the burden on the client. As clients who were selling a business for the first time, his patience and understanding with us were greatly appreciated. He explained things thoroughly, yet was happy to explain them again and again when necessary. Lance's business model of working with clients is very similar to concierge medicine, where doctors can give more individual, undivided attention to their patients. He always makes himself available for questions and consultation. On the rare occasion that he was unavailable, he always responded in a timely manner. There were many nights where Lance played the part of a psychologist, helping us work through the inevitable mixed emotions that come with selling one's life work. His wise counsel and upbeat, positive personality were a blessing to us with the ups and downs of the purchaser's back-and-forth decisions. Lance is truly a hardworking advocate for his clients and a man of patience, honesty, and integrity. He was never pushy and handled delicate matters well. He was always willing to step in and work directly with the buyer or allow my husband to handle the direct dealings himself. Because of his honesty and integrity, we never felt that he would undermine our interests for his own gain. Without reservation, we would use Lance Schmidt again as our business broker.
About LynnWe tried to sell our business on our own but that was a mess. People tried to lowball us, and we didn’t know what we were doing. Our long-time friend referred us to Lynn. She was our intermediary and found us a great buyer and a price that we were not expecting. Now we get to retire, play golf, and finally go take that trip to the Bahamas.
About BobI want to thank you for the tremendous job you did in finding qualified buyers for both of our Gourmet Coffee Shops. It's amazing to think that you were able to close Escrow on both of our stores within 60 days of listing them. I cannot tell you how pleased we are.I have since recommended you and your organization to several people. Some of whom are looking to buy and some who are looking to sell. Please feel free to call me at any time if you would like a personal recommendation for one of your prospective clients. Your personal experience of having owned your own business was extremely helpful during the process.
About LynnI needed to sell my business in the middle of Covid-19 pandemic. Salons were closed and my business was on hold because of the government shutdown. Lynn was upfront and patient with all my questions and doubts of being able to sell my salon. She did it and I was able to move forward with my plans to be with my family.
About LanceI first worked with Lance on a complicated transaction where he represented a very difficult seller, and my firm was the buyer. He did an admirable job of representing his client, while at the same time ensuring that the difficult issues were resolved to each party's satisfaction. I have since gotten to know Lance and watch him in action on his client representations. He does a superb work of communicating the value proposition to buy-side firms, ensuring that the right firms are approached, and maximizing value.
About LynnI was going to shut down my HVAC business after 30 years in the business. I went through two business brokers and four years of trying to sell my business. Lynn asked me to give her a chance to sell it and let me retire and reap the rewards the business my husband and I built. She qualified the business for SBA financing and was able to find a great buyer. We closed in three months, and during COVID-19 shutdown!”
